Carpet Cleaning Vancouver BC
Everyone loves having a clean and presentable home. It’s seemingly free of bacteria, looks welcoming & pleasant and is often free of allergens. Many people all over the country will do everything they can to sanitize their home as much as humanly possible. One of the main ways people are giving their homes a pristine look and feel is by steam cleaning their carpets.
While the majority of Canadians use some sort of carpet shampoo and vacuum cleaner, steam cleaning catches dirt, grime and allergens that many people can’t see or remove on their own. Steam cleaning has already proven to be exceptionally beneficial in a variety of ways:
Eliminates Allergens & Bacteria
Steam Cleaning gets rid of allergens such as dust mites and pet dander; things that many carpet cleaners wouldn’t be able to get rid of on their own. Those who use steam cleaning can breathe easy (literally and figuratively) knowing those allergens have been cleared. The germs associated with dirt and grime are also cleaned away with this type of cleaning. Not only are your allergies being kept at bay, but your chances of getting sick have lowered dramatically.
Few or No Chemicals
While normal vacuuming or carpet shampooing requires powdered or liquid cleaners, steam cleaning requires no such thing. Not only is the lack of harsh chemicals good for your carpet, but it’s ultimately easier on you. The lack of cleaning chemicals makes steam cleaning an environmentally friendly option.
It’ll Look as Good as New
The Best Way To Deodorize Carpeting With Baking Soda
A filthy carpet doesn’t just look bad, it also smells bad. Using harsh chemicals to get rid of smells and stains can irritate to your eyes and cause problems for your respiratory system and is not great for the environment. Using baking soda is an eco-friendly and more affordable method to clean and deodorize your carpet.
Vacuum to pick up particles of dust and dirt in the carpet. The underside of our shoes includes grime and oil. When they come into continuous contact with your carpeting, it can grind away at the gloss of your carpet and soil it.
Sprinkle baking soda liberally around the carpet that you just vacuumed. Allow it to sit for many hours. Smells naturally neutralize with baking soda because smell are absorbed instead of being covered up. Be patient if you have an especially bad odor coming from the carpet. The more time you allow baking soda sit in the carpeting, the better it’s going to neutralize the odors. Wait several hours before vacuuming your carpeting.
An even better way to use baking soda is to mix essential oils with the baking soda before using it. Lavender is one option that is great because it smells great. Using essentials can add one more layer of neutralizing effect on top of the baking soda.
As you can see from above, it’s very easy to use baking soda to get rid of any smells coming from your carpet. How often should you deodorize and clean your carpet? That really depends on the traffic that comes into contact with the carpet.
Traffic in this case does NOT mean cars, it refers to foot traffic. You also need to consider if you have children because they’re like to spill food and drinks on the carpet.
Do you have a cat that spends a lot of time in your house? It is possible that they may scratch your furniture. If this happens a lot, you could end up with a situation where you are unable to keep your furniture intact. Some Ottomans and sofas can end up completely shredded over a period of several months. There are a couple things that you can do to make sure that your cat never scratches your furniture again and is completely safe for your animal.
Detour Your Animal With Water
The easiest way to make sure that your animal does not scratch your furniture is to spray them with a little bit of water. Every time that you hear them scratching, or you see them, immediately get the water and sprayed their face. This is something that will definitely work because cats do not like water at all. They may even hear you coming the moment they start scratching, and immediately run away.
Change Your Furniture Around
Cats are habitual creatures that follow exact routine. If they have a routine, and you disrupt that routine, they will not scratch as normal. They will have to reestablish routine of scratching and what they believe to be their place which you can deter them by spraying it they start something new. By combining both of these strategies, it will be very easy for you to stop your cat scratching your furniture.
By using these simple tips for deterring your cat from scratching on your furniture, it’ll only take a few days for you to essentially reprogram them into not scratching ever again. They are safe to use, and your cat will simply respond to the new conditioning that will effectively prevent them from scratching your furniture ever again.

Cigarette Smoke & Carpet Issues
If you come from a home where people smoke every day, there is the possibility that smoke can permeate into virtually every fabric including your clothing, curtains, and your carpet. When this happens, you might not know what to do in order to get the smoke out. These odors can linger for many months, perhaps years, even if someone has only smoked in your home once or twice. To get cigarette smoke odor out of your carpet, you have to do certain things that will work to not only get rid of the smell, but to keep it from coming back. Here are a couple ways that you can eliminate the smell of smoke from your carpet using household products.
Getting Rid Of Cigarette Smoke With Baking Soda
As you probably know, baking soda is great for getting rid of odors. This is why people place it into the refrigerator. It’s able to absorb the smells that come from food, especially fish, even while it resides in that little box. In the same way, and in a much more efficient manner, by sprinkling baking soda all over your carpet and leaving it there for a couple hours, it can gradually absorb the smell of smoke right from the fibers. Afterwards, simply vacuum it up and you will notice a distinct change.
Chemical Carpet Cleaning
If you do have smoke in your carpet, and baking soda has not worked, you might have to take more drastic measures. This will include hiring a professional that is able to use a chemical cleaning solution that is able to lean your carpet without using water. For some reason, when you do steam cleaning, it’s not very efficient at removing smoke odors from the fibers. However, chemicals that are specifically designed to work on carpet fibers, to remove dirt as well as odors, have a much better effect once the treatment is done.
If you’ve ever over watered a plant , left a door or window open, had a flood of some type you will have experienced a water stain. As an owner of a carpet cleaning company I am frequently asked about water stain removal in Vancouver, BC.
The best way to tackle this stain is to first absorb as much water as possible with a wet vacuum or place white towels down and step on them to draw moisture into the towels. If it is a large volume spill its best to call a professional carpet cleaning or restoration company that has heavy duty equipment that can extract the water and dry the area properly.
Next you need to you an oxidizing agent like hydrogen peroxide that you can find at your local pharmacy. Use 1 part hydrogen peroxide (3.5%) and 1 part water. Pour it in a thoroughly rinsed empty trigger sprayer bottle. Mist the solution onto the stain from the outer diameter inward. The stain should disappear fairly quickly. You can leave it on for about 10 minutes. You can increase the mix to full strength if there is still some yellowing/browning still remaining. If you want to buy an over the counter product look for one that says “oxy” or the power of “hydrogen peroxide” on label or ingredients on back.
To dry use your wet vacuum or white paper towel or white towel and step on it to absorb mixture into it. Hope this helps and remember First Class Carpet Cleaning is known for all types of stain removal including water stain removal in Vancouver, BC.

Families with young children will likely have an aspiring young artist who uses the walls, carpet, or upholstery as his or her canvas.
My name is Harry Deligiannidis, and as an owner of a carpet cleaning company we get calls about ink stain removal in Vancouver, BC all the time.
Because you need solvents to tackle this type of stain it is best left to a professional cleaner if you do not have spotting equipment that can spray water and vacuum at the same time. You can find machines like the Bissell “SpotBot” at Walmart, London Drugs, and Canadian Tire for about $120.00. If you do not have equipment, white terry clothes, Q-tips, and cotton balls can be used.
For starters it is best to apply a neutral spotting solution or water around the ink stain but not on it to provide a barrier so it will not spread when you apply a solvent needed to remove the ink. The challenge is to dissolve and suspend the ink with the solvent and quickly extract before it dries or further penetrates into the fabric. Most solvents can smelly so careful to open windows doors to ventilate the area. You can try odourless mineral spirits, or other solvent solutions that can be found on the shelve in the paint department at Rona or Home Depot.
Dip a cotton ball or Q-tip into the solvent and blot the ink area. Absorb with cotton balls, white terry clothes or vacuum out with your wet/dry machine. Be patient, repeat steps until no more absorption is taking place. After absorption is complete, rinse and vacuum with machine or spray water, place white terry cloth over area and step on terry cloth to absorb moisture. Make sure it is white paper towels or white terry cloth, because you are using solvents if you use coloured towels there is a risk of colour transfer from coloured to carpet that will not be correctable.

It’s bound to happen. You are entertaining guests or enjoying a glass of wine settling into the evening when oops, the glass of wine spills onto the carpet. We are carpet cleaning company that has removed thousands of wine stains. Yes, they can be successfully removed if you follow some simple steps. Be careful to follow steps below and not use any over the counter product that may set the stain.
First you want to absorb as much of the wine as possible with a wet vacuum or with a white towel by placing it over the wine spill then stepping on it. Avoid coloured towels as sometimes you can get colour transfer from towel to carpet.
Next, our experiences have been successful with the use of enzyme-based spotting solution and hydrogen peroxide to remove wine stains. You can start with the enzyme based spotter after you have absorbed as much of the spill as possible by spraying it on to a white terry cloth or white paper towels and blot from the outer diameter inward to avoid spreading stain. Continue until no more wine is absorbed in towel.
Next to remove any red colour still remaining use 50/50 mix of water and 3.5% hydrogen peroxide. Again spray onto white terry cloth or white paper towel and blot from outer diameter inward. Use full strength hydrogen peroxide if red colour still remains. You can even cover the area with saran wrap to keep it wet and allow the hydrogen peroxide to continually do its thing. Your neighbourhood pharmacy will carry hydrogen peroxide. If you are going to use over the counter products, look for something that says “oxy” or “hydrogen peroxide” on the lable.
If you are still having some challenges or want to avoid frustration, call you red wine removal specialists in Vancouver, BC at 604-839-9008. First Class Carpet Cleaning provides “First Class Cleaning … The First Time!”
For all you wall to wall wool carpet owners out there.
A little tip if you are attempting to spot clean yourself.
Careful with the amount of spotting solution you use in terms of volume. If you saturate the area too much your spotting solution will penetrate into the backing which is quick frequently made out of jute.
Jute is a raw plant stock … remember potato sacks? If the jute gets wet, as its drying and evaporating, the natural pigment color of the jute will surface to the top and is not easily removable if at all. So you’ll what was spilled and the jute to contend with.
You could always call us to handle it as well. Don’t be well intentioned and create a bigger challenge. Below is a picture of wall to wall wool carpet rolled over so you can see what jute looks like. Wool carpet cleaning by First Class Carpet Cleaning in Vancouver will safe you headaches and money in the long run.
